12 Spots For Singles To Celebrate Valentine’s In L.A.

Let’s face it, if you are uncoupled, Valentine’s Day can suck. But don’t let this cliche lead you to stay home, watching a bad rom-com and crying into your wine this Feb. 14.

Whether you want revenge on an ex or just want to have a good time with your bromantic buddies or Galentine’s, embrace your independence and check out the best places to celebrate Valentine’s Day in Los Angeles.

Breakup Bar

If you’ve ever had your heart broken around this time of year, Valentine’s Day can feel like pouring salt into an open wound. Don’t let those flowers and candy companies tell you how to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Embrace your single status at the Breakup Bar Popup, an anti-Valentine’s Day champagne celebration taking over space next to Severance Wine Bar. For two weeks only (now through Feb. 15), the space is transformed into a place to mend broken hearts and start anew. The bar features the Wall of Broken Relationships where guests can write a note to their ex about how they really feel and add it to the wall, classic breakup movies on a 10-foot projection screen, food and snacks from Severance’s menu and indulgence desserts such as chocolate strawberries, dark chocolate fondue, French macarons, burnt cheesecake, chocolate fountain, cookies and cakes. Of course, there are plenty of drinks to drown those single tears. Cheeky cocktails include the Cold Day In Hell with Amontillado & East India Sherry, rooibos & chamomile tea, lemon and ginger, the She Blinded Me With Science with champagne, ginger cranberry syrup, lemon and passion fruit, served in a beaker with eyedropper, Punch For Two For One which is an option of a Sherry Mai Tai or Sherry Painkiller, the Ghosted with Blackdog Cider, lemon and lavender foam and the I Dealt With Your Parents For Years with Caperitif, lime, grapefruit soda, habanero bitters and black salt rim. Hanging with single friends? Order the Serious Baggage, a special champagne punch meant for six to eight people, served in a suitcase. Wine, beer and champs are also available (guests can even get any bottle of champagne sabered tableside). Walk-ins welcome but reserved tickets are recommended. The price is $20 per person and includes a complimentary cocktail or sparkling wine flight.

3rd Base

If you don’t have a partner to make it “3rd Base” with this Valentine’s Day, the new Hollywood sports lounge has got you covered. Flirty festivities start on Friday with a Galentine’s Day brunch/lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. featuring a $20 Bottomless Mimosas, complimentary chocolate-covered strawberries, complimentary massages in the VIP lounge, cute Valentine’s Day-themed décor, Valentine’s Day-themed specialty cocktails and a Elyx Chandelier Celebration complete with a $200 bottle of Elyx with select chocolates and sweets assortment. Then from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., guests can indulge in a romantic happy hour on Valentine’s Day to get your evening started with white wine or sparking that will be paired with chocolates.

Those who stay for dinner will have the opportunity to play along with the “Will You Be Mine Dinner …Next Week?” game and redeem a prize. At the end of the meal, your server or bartender will drop an envelope that encloses a surprise. However, there is a catch. The envelope must be returned unopened to the venue the following week in order to redeem the prize. Following the evening, there will be a moving screening held in the VIP theatre room at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Don’t forget to order their signature drink of the day,  the Will You Take Me to 3rd? featuring Ketel One Vodka, lemon and house-made sweet lavender, where you will find Valentine’s treat at the bottom of your drink and win a prize.

After dinner, the fun really starts to pick up with “Surprise Dating” as everyone in the bar who would like to participate will receive a ticket with a number on it. If your number is called then you will meet up with your surprise date from the bar for your complimentary glass of champagne, the newly paired couple is then allowed to spend some time getting to know each other (for 3 minutes) in the champagne corner of the venue.

And if you just so happen to meet someone special while you are there, grab a To Go Late Night Picnic basket packed to go with a bottle of wine, strawberries and meal with a candle and to-go cups.
