A Manhattan View at R17 Rooftop Bar in NYC

In recent years, the South Street Seaport neighborhood has gone through some major changes, transforming from a rundown fish market and tourist attraction to a bona fide hospitality hangout. Case in point: R17, the “hidden” rooftop bar at Pier 17 at South Street Seaport.

At this lower Manhattan spot – the only rooftop cocktail bar in the area – the drinks are just as impressive as the East River views – and the nightly happy hour deals are not to be missed. From 5 – 7 p.m., specialty cocktails like the A Manhattan View are buy-one-get-one, which is pretty impressive. Made with bourbon, Cocchi Barolo Chinato and Angostura bitters, A Manhattan View is R17’s twist on the classic.

“A Manhattan Cocktail is the most classic Pre-Prohibition drink created in New York City,” explains Beverage Director David Orellana. “At R17 we wanted to stay as close as possible to the original recipe and thus A Manhattan View is an homage to a timeless classic made with outstanding ingredients. The playful name is a reference to the incredible views of the city that R17 provides.”
