Bar Convent Brooklyn 2019: Be There, As They Go Much Bigger for Their 2nd Year

Bar Convent Brooklyn (BCB) returns for the second year in 2019 on June 11th & 12th bringing one of the world’s biggest bar conventions back to New York City.  It will once again take over the Brooklyn Expo Center in Greenpoint and will be expanding its footprint into the adjacent Greenpoint Terminal Building for 2019. Nearly doubling in size, organizers report that BCB nearly double in size this year to accommodate demand for additional attendance, programs and experiential activations.

An extension of Bar Convent Berlin, one of the leading international trade fairs for the bar and beverage industry, Bar Convent Brooklyn will be held in Greenpoint, Brooklyn at the Brooklyn Expo Center. In 2019, BCB Brooklyn is expanding with more space inside the adjacent Greenpoint Terminal building to accommodate the demand in attendees for its second year. This year’s event will be bigger in size by 35 percent in square footage featuring new activations and brands. The Greenpoint Terminal will also host the new ticket registration as well as a lounge, tasting rooms, and demonstration stages plus more featured exhibitors and purveyors with additional space allocated in the open air space area adjoining the Brooklyn Expo Center’s Main Hall.

This year, a collection of top experts such as Claire Sprouse (Tin Roof Community, Hunky Dory), Don Lee (Existing Conditions, Cocktail Kingdom), and Shannon Mustipher (Glady’s, Author of “Tiki: Modern Tropical Cocktails”), joined Angus Winchester, Director of Education, to hand select a diverse and in-depth array of panels and seminars.

The inaugural Bar Convent Brooklyn saw 125 exhibitors, 78 new product launches, and 3,100 attendees tasting more than 250,000 spirits and drinks. This year, over 4,000 beverage industry professionals are expected in attendance to network with peers, experience the newest spirits launches and learn about new trends & techniques in domestic and international markets. Exhibitors will include more than 150 purveyors that will showcase a curated selection of premium spirits, mixers, and bar equipment.

In addition to sustainability initiatives, Bar Convent Brooklyn aims to give back to the community it serves and is excited to announce Children of Restaurant Employees (CORE) as their charity partner. CORE grants support to children of food and beverage service employees navigating life-altering circumstances. “CORE is honored and excited to be the affiliated charity for this year’s BCB Brooklyn event in June. The opportunity to spread awareness of our mission to the attendees will be so beneficial to us and we look forward to a successful silent auction during the event,” Lauren LaViola, Executive Director, CORE.

Spanish-language Sessions
New this year, one session each morning will be offered in Spanish. Sessions will provide education for those looking to move into a bartending role but also provide guidance and expand skill training for their current role

Bar Convent Brooklyn 2019 is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and single-use plastic wastage, with their goal to create a culture of dialogue focused on sustainability and green bar initiatives in the cocktail industry
This year, Llanllyr SOURCE is proud to re-launch SOURCE Spring Water in 100% recyclable aluminum cans for the US market at BCB Brooklyn and to announce the end of the use of all plastic and PET in their bottling
Tin Roof Community co-founders, Claire Sprouse, and Chad Arnholt will be hosting a sustainability dedicated booth showcasing ways that bars and industry professionals can implement to have a low-waste food and beverage program.
Bar Convent Brooklyn will be working directly with a local waste management company to ensure waste treated through recycling and composting treatments
