If you haven’t’ yet been to Venice’s Nighthawk: Breakfast Bar, you are seriously missing out. The theme is all things breakfast, including Breakfast Burger and brandy-infused French Toast along with cocktails like spiked cereal milk (Cinnamon Toast Crunch and spiced rum, anyone?)
But we are loving on the Bitter Blues, a blueberry jam, bourbon, and bitters cocktail, which pairs perfectly with the spot’s breakfast-forward menu.
“Growing up my French mother made homemade jam,” explains Jeremy Fall, Owner of Nighthawk: Breakfast Bar. “I wanted to create something unique that paid homage to my French and American heritage.”
Bitter Blues at Nighthawk: Breakfast Bar recipe & preparation
- 1 generous bar spoon of blueberry preserves
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1.5oz Evan Williams Bourbon
- .75oz Lemon juice
Combine all ingredients in mixing tin. Shake vigorously. Double strain into coupe glass. Express lemon peel in and on the rim of the glass. Garnish with 2 blueberries on bamboo pick
