Charity Cocktails to Support Female Empowerment at Leyenda

Starting the New Year off right, Leyenda in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn is serving up charity cocktails to continue the female empowerment movement and support women’s issues.  During the entire month of January, Julie Reiner, Ivy Mix and their bar team are will feature a new charity cocktail for $10 each week with 50% of the proceeds going directly to organizations that aid women’s health, professional and personal success.

Also if you cleaned out your closet for the New Year or got holiday gifts that you didn’t exactly love, a drop-off box will be located at the bar for the whole month where guests can drop off clothing donations that will go to Bottomless Closet.

So head to Leyenda this month to drink for good and support girl power with these charity cocktails.  And don’t worry, if you are doing Dry January, you can order up a (non-alcoholic) Lemonade ($3) homage to the Queen Bey that serves up 100% of the proceeds to Women For Women International providing support to women from war torn countries.

Back the Rack: Available Jan 1 – Jan 7

Supports Speed Rack, the all-female speed bartending competition that raises money for numerous breast cancer research charities. This donation will go directly to metavivor, that specializes in Metastatic cancer.

• 1.5 oz Codigo Rosa tequila
• .5 oz Cocchi Rosa
• .5 oz verjus
• Dash rose water

Stir with a big ice rock. Garnish with grapefruit twist

Dress to Impress: Available Jan 8 to Jan 14

Supports Bottomless Closet, providing professional clothing, job readiness, and post-employment training and coaching services to disadvantaged women in NYC. Donations will be accepted all month long at Leyenda, so if you don’t like what you got from Santa – donate it!

• .75 oz lemon
• .5 oz chamomile syrup

Shake, serve in a highball and top with soda. Garnish with lemon wheel.

Power Play: Available Jan 15 to Jan 21

Supports Power Play NYC, providing after-school leadership programs to educate and empower girls through sports.

• .75 oz lemon
• .5 oz simple/strawberry
• .5 oz orange

Shake, serve in a coupe. Garnish with lemon wheel.

Hands Off: Available Jan 22 to Jan 31

Supports Outsmart NYC, to prevent and end sexual violence in bars, restaurants, and nightclubs.

• .5 oz manzanilla sherry
• .5 oz lemon
• .5 oz grapefruit
• .5 oz vanilla
