Drink this Now: Corduroy Sazerac at Winnie’s Jazz Bar

Winnie’s Jazz Bar inside Refinery Hotel’s lobby offers up a timeless 1920’s vibe in New York’s Garment District area. Winnie’s today is an intimate space that boasts a refined cocktail list with Prohibition-era flair, and an extensive beer and wine selection. With its prime location at the heart of Refinery Hotel’s lobby, timeless setting and live jazz performances, Winnie’s is a quintessential New York experience – and their Corduroy Sazerac is the perfectly classy cocktail to sip on while enjoying a barstool at Winnie’s.

Created by bartender, Perry Fox, at In Good Company Hospitality, he says of the drink, “This drink was created to be a scotch-based aperitif version of the traditional Sazerac. I chose a fino sherry to mellow the alcohol of the scotch but also to compliment the existing sherry and nutty notes of the scotch.”

The dryness of the sherry allows the finer flavors of the scotch to shine through, Fox continues.

“Benedictine is used to balance the drink with some sweetness while also adding herbal vanilla-honey flavors to the mix. The combination is reminiscent of lightly buttered toast sprinkled with baking spices and spread with a bit of citrus and berry preserves.”
