Kyoto Kiss at Bar Peached in Austin

Since opening earlier this year, Bar Peached in Austin, Texas has been serving up Asian-Southern cuisine to the Clarksville neighborhood. From the same team behind the popular Peached Tortilla, Bar Peached is known for it’s Tex-Mex cuisine and creative concocted cocktails, including the Kyoto Kiss.

Made with a mix of gin, homemade raspberry shishito syrup, egg white and yuzu juice, the Kyoto Kiss is a nod to the Japanese city.

“The cocktail was inspired by the historic district of Kyoto in Japan,” explains Bar Peached’s beverage Director Kevin Kok. “Doing a drink with raspberry and shishito peppers backfired on me a bit as my dry cleaning bills for work shirts are ridiculous but it’s worth it.”

Kyoto Kiss recipe and preparation

  • 2 oz. gin
  • 1 oz. raspberry shishito syrup*
  • .75 oz. yuzu juice
  • .75 oz. egg white

Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake. Discard ice and strain liquid back into the shaker. Dry shake for 10-15 seconds. Double strain into a coup.

*Raspberry Shishito Syrup

  • 10 oz. raspberries
  • 1 shishito pepper
  • 16 oz. sugar
  • 16 oz. water

Combine ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes then strain.
