Drink Your Way Around The World With Global Bazaar Flight At Gate: Bar Centro

Around the world in 80 cocktails? Close! The Bazaar by José Andrés at SLS Hotel, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Beverly Hills boasts a worldly bar-within-a-bar concept, Gate: Bar Centro. A custom-built ten-seat bar, Gate: Bar Centro is an evolution of The Bazaar’s imaginative cocktail program, specifically designed for guided exploration, cocktail showmanship, and limited-run tastings, including its maiden Bazaar Flight, a multi-course cocktail tasting menu. Bazaar Flight is a ticketed cocktail experience that takes passengers on a drinkable voyage around the globe: a liquid adventure inspired by faraway places, cultures, and flavors, imbued by The Bazaar’s signature gastronomic experimentation.

A boarding pass guests receive grants them access to an innovative cocktail flight, with tastings and a selection of tapas from The Bazaar. Flights are scheduled for takeoff Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and are limited to ten guests per night. Developed in collaboration with ThinkFoodGroup Cocktail Innovator Miguel Lancha and building on the success of the wildly popular Bazaar Flights cocktail menu which launched in Summer 2018, Bazaar Flight at Gate: Bar Centro blends global cocktail traditions with The Bazaar’s distinctly fantastical approach to pushing the boundaries of the expected.

Explore France with the French Fizz

From start to finish, this imaginative concept takes guests on an unforgettable adventure. After purchasing tickets, passengers receive an electronic boarding pass, followed by a passport and world map place-mat upon their arrival at The Bazaar. Two accomplished captains, or bartenders, lead guests through their flight, stamping passports and pinpointing maps throughout the cocktail tasting, while explaining each drink and its origins in detail. Small tapas-style bites are served throughout the voyage.

“Our worldly bar team spent months collaborating with the renowned culinary teams at Somni and The Bazaar to develop one-of-a-kind cocktails for Bazaar Flight at Gate: Bar Centro,” said Ricardo Gomez, General Manager at The Bazaar. “This ticketed, tasting menu-style cocktail exploration allows us free range of creativity in providing guests a personalized performance, blurring the lines between mixologist, chef, and mad scientist.”

The experience starts “in Madrid” with a welcome aperitivo, the Que Pasa Tio. As guests “stop in Spain,” they are treated to the Siphon G&T. a wild, interactive build-your-own gin & tonic experience. The Siphon G&T allows guests to customize their perfect gin, choosing from an array of botanicals, herbs, and spices to transform vodka into gin, which is then mixed with a tonic of their choosing. In “Amsterdam,” guests will try the Menno’s Law, named for the Amsterdam wine merchant who challenged the Netherlands ban on absinthe, this cocktail is made with absinthe, honey-infused gin, Suze, ginger syrup, lime juice, cucumber, and lemon. In “France” sip the French Fizz made with gin, Veuve Clicquot, Armagnac, heavy cream, egg white and orange blossom water.

The U.S. isn’t left out either, For “San Francisco ” the bar pours the San Francisco Swizzl, a Bay Area take on the Swizzle cocktail, made with rum, chartreuse, and mint from the onsite hydroponic garden. For “Wisconsin” the Dairyland Old Fashioned is a take on a Midwestern Old Fashioned.

Repping Mexico with the Painter’s Punch

Saving the pyrotechnics for the end, Late Night in Rota in “Andalusia” is a fire-kissed coffee cocktail to end the journey. Other destinations include Sweden, Jamaica, Mexico and more.

At the time of takeoff, Bazaar Flight at Gate: Bar Centro is Los Angeles’ only ticketed cocktail tasting experience. Tickets are $120 per person excluding tax and service charge, can be purchased through Tock.
