Drinking All the Things: Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Tennessee Whiskey

Of course you’ve heard of Jack Daniel’s and it’s likely you have also taken of shot of the stuff at some point.

But true whiskey lovers will be awed by the brand’s Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Tennessee Whiskey, a premium version. Aged using dramatic temperature changes that help deepen the color and the taste, each barrel – which is hand-selected from every 100 barrels – has notes of toasted oak, vanilla and caramel plus a smokey finish. As we said, this is not your average Jack.

“Since it is a hand-selected barrel, it might have slightly different flavor profiles from the regular single barrel Jack Daniel’s,” explains Oscar Garcia from 67 Wine, which is hosting a Whiskey Craftshop” event at their Upper West Side store on Wednesday, May 11th to showcase Jack Single Barrel. “This is a unique whiskey – it’s labeled and identified differently – that can be sipped on its own or used to make your favorite classic cocktails.”

But, being a purist, Garcia really enjoys his Jack Single Barrel served neat.

“No ice or water,” he says. “If you are going to drink it on the rocks, I recommend those high density ice cubes, they melt slowly and don’t dilute the flavors of the whiskey too much.”

Boasting a dark, amber color and a 94 proof, (serious business, people) Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel – the world’s only charcoal-mellowed single barrel whiskey – comes in 750 mL glass decanters with a wood and cork closure, plus a rick number, barrel number and bottling date.

This needs to be added to your home bar, stat.

But find out for yourself at the event, featuring lots of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel, food and live music.

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel is available at stores around NYC, including 67 Wine, Astor Wines & Spirits and Gotham Wines & Liquors, among others.
