‘Hood Guide: Grand Cayman with Amba Lamb

When Amba Lamb, first came to Grand Cayman, she had planned for only a brief stay in the Caribbean.

“My husband and I planned to come down to Cayman for 6 months to kill some time,” says Lamb, Beverage Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. “That was 5 years ago!”

Despite being a small island, Grand Cayman “has a ton of soul and you definitely get a sense of community really quickly,” Lamb continues. “Great weather, great food and of course great drinks make it a very livable part of the world.”

Thanks to people like Lamb and other hospitality superstars, “the cocktail culture is going from strength to strength every year with bartenders getting more awesome and ingredients getting more diverse,” she says. “Whether you want a Pina colada on the beach or a expertly made Old Fashioned in a cigar lounge, there is a place for everything on our little island.”

It’s time to find out where Amba Lamb likes to drink in thirsty’s ‘Hood Guide: Grand Cayman.

Start My Day

For me it is usually either a Local green Smoothie delivered to my home by the amazing Green2Go or I pick one up from Jessie’s Juice bar in Camana Bay. Jessie is a Kiwi like me so her café always makes me feel like I’m not far from home. The beet salad wrap is to die for too!

Lunching or Brunching

The Brunch at Seven is definitely the most decadent of choices! Free flowing Moet champagne and more luxurious food than you can possibly eat. A new favorite of mine is Bacaro. Their Sunday feast is astounding value and sitting out on the waterfront patio sipping on spritz is a hard experience to beat!

Happy Hour/Sunset drinks

andiamo-aperitivo-2-inside

Andiamo has a new Aperitivo Social every day from 4pm to 6pm where you can get light refreshing cocktails and delicious snacks with great discounts, also the Sunset Sessions happy hour at Royal Palms on Mondays is not to be missed, great music, spectacular sunsets and 2 for 1 cocktails…perfect!

Essential Eats for Dinner and Drinks

The Cracked Conch is totally en pointe with their Food, Cocktails, Service and Location! The team in their bubble bar are always bring fresh innovative cocktails to life and the shrimp cocktail is the best I have ever had.

Crafty Cocktail Strolling

We are getting pretty spoilt with amazing cocktail stops in Cayman these days! I would start at the Anchor and Den where I would choose something from their epic selection of Gin, their cocktails are always stellar! Then I would head on to Agua in Camana Bay, their bar team are total rockstars and I always find something new and delicious while sitting at the bar in the absurdly comfy velvet bar stools.

Next would be Silver Palm to take a small trip around the world with their menu that represents flavours from all over the globe. I would finish off in my ultimate local, The Backroom, another phenomenal team that treat everyone like they are coming into their own home, they have a beautiful cocktail menu but a shot or 2 of of Mezcal is also a must when here.

Classic Dive

Pirates Den is one of my Go To’s, the Cayman style chicken wings are crazy good and if you are up for it the Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese is a monster! Wash it all down with a local pint and Jameson for the full experience.
