Win Tickets to Joy of Sake New York – Back With 478 Different Sakes

This month, Joy of Sake returns to New York – the biggest one yet – and we are giving away a pair of tickets! The world’s largest sake tasting outside of Japan, Joy of Sake takes over Metropolitan Pavillion on Friday, June 15th and will feature 478 competition-level sakes along with sake-inspired appetizers from 19 of the top restaurants in town. It’s an event you won’t want to miss!

Now in its 18th year, The Joy of Sake celebrates the ancient art of sake-brewing and features hundreds of premium daiginjo, ginjo and junmai labels from all around the globe. New this year is the U.S. Sake Section where brewers from Brooklyn Kura, Boston’s Dovetail Sake and Moto-I from Minneapolis will pour their chilled nama – or unpasteurized – sake.

“U.S. breweries are making great strides in technical mastery,” says Joy of Sake founder Chris Pearce. “They are stepping up big time and we’re thrilled to have them pouring in New York at The Joy of Sake.”

In addition to an impressive line-up of sake, the event will feature bites from a roster of notable restaurants such as 15 East, Sushi Nakazawa, Momofuku, Sakagura and Ivan Ramen as well as izakayas Yopparai, Bozu and Hibino and Korean barbecue spot Insa. Some new places to look out for this year include Chelsea’s Naoki, Sushi Seki Times Square, Morimoto and Little Tong Noodle Shop.

Joy of Sake – a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering appreciation for the ancient craft of sake-making – serves as the public tasting that follows the U.S National Sake Appraisal, which is held annually in Honolulu. Brewers from throughout Japan, and an increasing number from the U.S., enter their best labels and eleven expert judges from Japan and the U.S. participate in the three-day blind tasting, with gold and silver awards going to the most exceptional entries. Festival-goers sample fresh bottles of each label, including award-winners, in an unparalleled public tasting.
