Music Inspired No More Heroes Bar Rocks West Hollywood, Minus The Ego

The West Hollywood bar scene isn’t exactly described as low key, but No More Heroes is devoted to keeping things chill and ego-free. Inspired by legendary musicians, No More Heroes opened this May and has attracted a cool crowd of neighborhood locals ever since.

From Ysabel and Laurel Hardware vets Todd Walker and Cole Apodaca, the bar was named after the 1977 rock song by The Stranglers. Inhabiting the space once home to Now Boarding on Santa Monica Boulevard, the bar has an undeniable hip yet unpretentious vibe featuring low lighting and walls adorned with artworks of music greats including David Bowie, Bob Dylan and Biggie Smalls.

The bar also hosts live music every other Sunday and regular DJ nights throughout the week. Expect a mix of genres including rock, hip-hop, indie and soul.

The drink menu is just as electric as the bar’s soundtrack. Many of the cocktails are directly inspired by songs including the Block Rockin’ Beets featuring Don Julio Reposado, Giffard Péche, Dolin, beets, and scorched rosemary and the Afternoon Delight made with legal Mezcal, rested for seven days with fresh cucumber and pineapple, Giffard Banane du Bresil, toasted coconut and lime.

Other standouts include the Ms. Goodnight made with Nolet’s Gin, spicy red pepper blended with St. Germain and lemon, the Linda Linda featuring Delerio Joven Mezcal topped with orange bell pepper infused Pavan, Thai peppers, and lemon and the White Satin made with Bombay Dry, St. Germaine, Dolin Blanc, lemon and egg whites.

Uniquely, No More Heroes offers two Clay Pot cocktails, spirit-forward drinks that have been stored in glass decanters then kept in clay pots for a minimum of six weeks to allow them to oxidize. These include the Smile on the Rocks comprised of Sipsmith Gin, Alessio, Campari, Umeshu and shisho and plum bitters and the Well Mannered Frivolity made with Del Maguey Vida, Punt e Mes, Campari and spiced chocolate bitters.

In the spirit of heroes, the bar’s signature cocktail gives back. Two dollars from every Heroes is donated to My Friend’s Place charity. The drink features Michter’s Rye steeped with tangier tea, sirop de canne, Alessio and lemon.

There are also a number of frozen drinks on the menu including the Shy Shy made with Adelaida Rosé,  Hangar 1 Rosé Vodka with Giffard Pamplemousse, Litchi-Li rested with fresh citrus and strawberry. Also, the Loud Mouth Soup with Tullamore Dew made with whiskey, coffee, Irish cream and milk.

And the rockstar bartenders aren’t the only heroes found at this bar. Soon enough, No More Heroes will offer light bar snacks and casual Italian sub sandwiches.
