Celebrating National Cosmopolitan Day with The Cosmo Riff at Repour in Miami Beach

May 7th is National Cosmopolitan Day, so it is a fitting time to celebrate this pretty in pink cocktail that is classically served up in a martini  glass.  The Cosmopolitan, often referred to ask the Cosmo, is a simple cocktail with a bit of a fuzzy history. There have been many diverse claims to the origin of the Cosmopolitan and the drink’s creation has been linked Cork & Cleaver in Minneapolis, gay bars in Provincetown, The Strand in Miami and The Odeon in Manhattan.  Regardless of its birthplace, there is no denying the influence that Sex & The City’s Carrie Bradshaw played in the massive popularity of the drink in the late 1990s.  The Cosmopolitan recipe calls for citrus vodka, orange liqueur, cranberry juice and lime juice.

Miami is one of the cities that holds claim to the drink’s popularity, so for the holiday, we take a look at the Cosmo riff at Repour Bar in Miami Beach called the Time After Time.  Pete Siewruk, Bar Manager at Repour Bar explains, “The Cosmopolitan variation we have on our menu is a play on both a Daiquiri and the Cosmopolitan. We wanted to share our love for BOTH of these classic cocktails that we felt already share similar profiles. So it is an ode to the South Beach Nightlife of the colorful 1980’s & 90’s which was, quite frankly, a time when we all took ourselves (bartenders) a little less seriously and had a bit more fun.”
