NOW OPEN: Patent & Patent Pending in NoMad

Get ready NoMad, Patent is coming to the neighborhood and will officially open its doors on January 31st, 2018.  Inside the cellar of the historic Radiowave Building, Patent will open its doors offering two distinct day to night personalities – Patent Coffee and Patent Pending.  The Patent concept is spearheaded by owner, Ryan McKenzie, of Simmer creative agency.

While we have yet to experience Patent, insiders gave us the scoop on the new venue.

By Day: Patent Coffee

Holding court during daylight hours, Patent Coffee offers specialty grab-and-go coffee, delicious pastries, cookies and chia parfaits in a petite, chic space outfitted with light wood and hand-cut marble. The beans come from a purveyor in Brooklyn that travels the world looking for the best varietals of coffee, and then roasts each sustainably-sourced offering individually to highlight its terroir. Baristas serve up drip, espresso drinks, nitro cold brew and more – with bulletproof coffee coming soon.

By Night: Patent Pending

After 5pm, the doors lock and things get a bit more surreptitious. To access Patent Pending – a cocktail cave with 34 seats – patrons buzz in at street level, traverse through the candle-lit coffee shop and slip through a concealed door. Once inside, expertly-crafted cocktails await. The drinks are the work of Harrison Ginsberg and Nick Rolin, talented veterans of the award-winning bars Dead Rabbit and BlackTail, and are divided into four Teslian categories – Energy, Frequency, Vibration and Descent – bringing the imbiber on a journey worthy of the storied space. The menu is the work of multiple artists and writers, and is an experience in itself.
