Orange Glou: NYC’s First Orange Wine Pop-Up Bar

When it comes to wine these days, everyone seems to be talking about drinking “natural”, and no, that doesn’t mean sipping on a glass in the buff. In a nutshell, natural wine is wine that is farmed organically, much similar to that of organic food. No additives or processing aids are used, and ‘intervention’ in the naturally occurring fermentation process is kept to a minimum. These wines are made with white grapes but in a way typical for reds where the juice stays in contact with the skins after pressing for a period from mere hours to even weeks and can range in hue from pale to golden to very dark orange – hence the name. It seems all the cool kids are sipping Orange Wine these days and NYC is getting its first pop-up dedicated to the category with Orange Glou.

To celebrate this natural, orange wine, Doreen Winkler, one of the leading natural wine sommelier founded Orange Glou, a unique wine subscription service and monthly wine bar pop up in New York devoted solely to skin contact wines. Orange Glou, NYC’s first wine bar pop up devoted solely to skin contact wines, is launching with a kick-off party on Monday, October 28 from 7-11pm on the LES.
