The First Ever Puerto Rico Cocktail Week Kicks Off November 2019

Puerto Rico has been experiencing well deserved, and overdue, renaissance and has become a major travel hotspot destination in 2019.  The culture, music, food, hospitality, and of course, bar scene of the island have been thriving all while still recovering from Hurricane Maria and a widely publicized political uprising. With so much widespread love for Puerto Rico, it now has its very first cocktail festival for 2019 with Puerto Rico Cocktail Week.

From November 3rd to 9th, the island is inviting the beverage industry to come experience its local cocktail culture. La Concha Resort in Condado, San Juan will serve as headquarters for Puerto Rico Cocktail Week (PRCW) and there will also be seminars, guest shifts with international bartenders, tours in distilleries and breweries, special cocktail menus all around the island.

While there will be a major focus on the beverage and bar culture of Puerto Rico, international bar family will be representing as well, including Nectaly Mendoza from Herbs & Rye in Las Vegas, Márcio Silva de Guilhotina in São Paulo, Ricky Gómez from Palomar in Portland, and local such as Ana Delia de Iturrondo, professional athlete and Miguel Miranda, co-founder of Muuaaa Design Studio.

Words from Roberto Berdecia, Partner – Puerto Rico Cocktail Week

Puerto Rico has contributed immensely to the industry; from our legacy producing iconic spirits to the creation of internationally award winning bars. The island has a deep connection to the global bar community and it continues to grow tremendously, so we felt now is the time to launch Puerto Rico Cocktail Week.  We want people all over the world to have a taste of what Puerto Rico has to offer – our unique use of local flavors & produce, warm hospitality and passionate people. Combine that with beautiful weather and some of the most breathtaking landscapes from the mountains, rainforests and magnificent beaches.

When we first wanted to launch this project, Maria hit us and the timing wasn’t right.  Now, we are feeling the full support of the industry we have a lot of more support from amazing people like Thirsty or Tales of the Cocktail. We will build this event to help our local industry, our people, OUR ISLAND!
