The unofficial start of summer begins this Memorial Day weekend. Although activities may look different than years past, all you need is good food with all the fixings and festive drinks to make this strange time feel a little bit more familiar. Check out five spots in Los Angeles providing the fun MDW provisions to-go.
West Hollywood hotspot Conservatory is known for its super fun Memorial Day BBQ parties, but this year, they are helping locals bring the cookout spirit to their own home. For $95, their takeout Memorial Day Box includes Hickory Smoked Baby Back Ribs, 12 Hour Smoked Beef Ribs, Cassava Smoked Sausage, Potato Salad, Baked Beans and Grilled Street Corn. Conservatory got extra festive with their red, white and blue to-go cocktails for $10 each, or three for $28. Check out the Red Rocket made with Orendain Reposado Tequila, Aperol, Yellow Chartreuse, fresh-pressed watermelon juice and ginger cordial, the WHITE Streamer made with Tito’s Vodka, Crème de Banana, house-made horchata and ground cinnamon and the BLUE Angel made with High West Double Rye, blueberry and lemongrass elixir, ginger, lemon and mint.
This Memorial Day, Gus’s Barbecue in South Pasadena will be serving up festive food items to go such as Southern Fried Chicken, burgers, sandwiches and Gus’s Real Pit BBQ offerings which include Memphis Baby Back Ribs, BBQ Brick Chicken, Texas Beef Brisket, St. Louis Spare Ribs, Peppercorn Crusted Tri-Tip, Smoked Sausage and the Carolina Style Pulled Pork. Bevies are a must for any Memorial Day BBQ and Gus’s Barbecue has everything and more – featuring Gus’s Bloody Mary Kit (four servings for $25) including a bottle of Seagram’s Vodka, Gus’s Bloody Mary mix, chipotle salt, pickled okra and lemon wedges. Gus’s is also now introducing Gus’s Bottle Barn featuring top-shelf spirits, wine, beer bundles, growlers, Southern Sangria, and bottled cocktails including Gus’s Old Fashioned, Manhattan and a Negroni.

Celebrate Memorial Day weekend with some soul and sips. Georgia’s Restaurant at the Anaheim Packing House and Long Beach Exchange has put together its “Soul-Delicious” Memorial Day Family Packs, available all weekend and on Monday – for takeout, delivery and curbside pickup. The southern style goods include Fried Chicken Bucket, Nana’s Famous Cornbread, Fried Catfish, Smothered Pork Chops, Pulled Pork or Hot Links, Jambalaya and more. Georgia’s Restaurant will also be offering their made-to-order Hurricane cocktails, Georgia’s Peach Sangria, Mimosas and Bloody Marys, served in mason jars, along with wine and beer to step-up the Memorial Day celebration.
If you aren’t exactly the BBQ type, consider celebrating Memorial Day Weekend with an Italian twist. Mi Piace in Old Town Pasadena is getting ready to celebrate Memorial Day all weekend long by offering their signature menu which features Italian standouts such as Ravioli Della Casa, Linguine Pesto, Piccata Di Pollo, Calamari Fritti, Filetto Di Salmone and pizzas such as the Margherita, Classica and Old Town Speciale. Comfort dishes such as Marinated Chicken, New York Pastrami, Handmade Meatball Panino or Mi Piace Black Label Burger which is prepared with a special prime rib eye and brisket “exclusive” mix are also up for grabs. To complement the cuisine, Mi Piace will be offering wine, beer, spirits and cocktails for takeout, delivery, and curbside pickup. The signature cocktails ($10 each) include the Old Forester Barrel Aged Manhattan, Tito’s Handmade Vodka & Q Soda and Hendrick’s Gin & Q Tonic. Mi Piace will also be offering spirits by the bottle. For every bottle or cocktail made of Hendrick’s Gin, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, or Old Forester Bourbon purchased over Memorial Day Weekend, MiPiace will donate one meal to the Boys & Girls of West San Gabriel Valley.
