Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree, how lovely are thy branches … especially when enjoyed as part of a cocktail. For X-Mas Day, we headed up to Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid to visit their KANU Lounge to enjoy the Holiday Tree cocktail.
Crafted by Bar Supervisor, Zachary Blair, this gin-based cocktail is a toast to Christmas incorporating the vibrant red colors of cranberry and Campari and covered in frothy white goodness of egg white. Blair says of his creation, “This cocktail is Christmas in a glass with notes of pine and cinnamon spice. Light, delicate and refreshing, it is perfect to sip on by the fire and boozy enough to warm the soul.”
Holiday Tree recipe
- 2 oz. Dry Gin
- 1 oz. Campari
- 2 oz. cranberry juice.5
- .5 oz. lime juice
- .5 oz. simple syrup
- 3 dashes of Fee Brothers Whiskey Barrel-Aged Bitters
- 1 egg white
Shake all ingredients without ice. Then add ice and shake. Double strain into a coupe, and add tree shaped carved apple covered in cinnamon as floated garnish.
