Bar Moga opens up on the corner of Houston and Sullivan St. by Becky McFalls-Schwartz and Chef Takanori of SakaMai. McFalls-Schwartz was a long-time protégé of the late Sasha Petraske and developed the cocktail program that features Japanese-Inspired cocktails. The venue is based, and named, on a moga. Moga is a “modern girl” that emerged in early 20th-century Japan. Think the roaring twenties Flappers. The Mogas defied norms and gender norms while embracing a liberal, debaucherous lifestyle.
