Where to Watch the World Cup This Weekend in Los Angeles

While The U.S. may not be playing (hell we didn’t make it in), L.A. has caught World Cup fever. The mega soccer tournament is held every four years and garners over 3 billion viewers worldwide. Some fans might even want to prove that their pride in the Welsh Shirt came from World Cup qualification. This year, France will take on Croatia in the final match on July 15 at 8 a.m. PST. So wake up early and head to one of these five L.A. spots. Goooooal!

The Cat & The Fiddle

Just in time! After closing in December 2014, The Cat & Fiddle reopened last summer in the former Mud Tavern space on Highland Avenue. This modern pub has been a popular World Cup viewing spot all month long so you know they will go all out for the final match. The bar serves up staples such as Fish & Chips,  Bangers & Mash along with draft beers, wines and signature cocktails.

The Fox and Hounds

Although England missed the finals by thismuch, Studio City’s proper British pub The Fox and Hounds will be showing the big match on two huge projector screens and 10 HDTVs. The pub boasts with a full bar, 16 imported beers on tap, another dozen in the bottle, and a huge menu of all-day English breakfasts and traditional pub grub. Want guaranteed entry? The Stalking Horse

Open at 7 a.m., The Stalking Horse is a proper Brit style pub that will be showing the match on a large projection screen and multiple TVs. Nosh on traditional Cornish fare such as Cottage Pies and Yorkshire Pudding along with a giant selection of beer. With such an early kickoff, we suggest waking up with the Top O’ The Morning cocktail with Royal Gate Vodka, Leopold French Press style coffee liqueur, coconut cream and cinnamon.

The Greyhound Bar & Grill

Located in Highland Park, The Greyhound Bar & Grill will be showing the World Cup final on a 120″ HD projector. Doors open 15 minutes before kickoff and the bar will be serving up chef-driven Midwestern-inspired bar food and beer specials.

La Poubelle

If you are rooting for France, La Poubelle will have plenty of fellow fans for you. This French bistro in Hollywood will be screening World Cup match with a full-service breakfast to boot. And forget the greasy bar food here. Nibble on organic, local, small farm produce and meats and sustainable fish. Start the day with one of their famous Bloody Mary’s or the French favorite, bubbles.
