And They’re Off! Kentucky Derby & Woodford Reserve Host Virtual Derby Day At Home May 2nd

As the world has collectively responded together to help flatten the curve, many of our favorite events have been postponed.  To bring our spirits some excitement and cheer, Woodford Reserve and Churchill Downs announces that, despite being postponed until the fall, Derby Day must go on with “Kentucky Derby at Home” on Saturday, May 2nd.

So break out your best hats, seersucker and Derby Day finest and safely get yourself Woodford Reserve to enjoy the first-ever virtual Derby Day celebration.

The world could use a fun day at the races and Woodford Reserve and Thirsty invite you to keep the Derby spirit alive this year. The all-day online event will honor the tradition and pageantry of the Kentucky Derby while raising up to $2 million for people impacted by the global pandemic.

Since the physical race has been rescheduled for September 5th, the Kentucky Derby is taking the annual festivities to the online realm so everyone can enjoy Woodford Reserve and the thrill of the chase safely at home. This unprecedented experience will kick off on April 30th when fans can visit www.KentuckyDerby.com to pick their favorite horse to win the race and join Churchill Downs – which has pledged to match up to $1 million of donations, for a total potential donation of $2 million – in making a charitable donation to COVID-19 emergency relief efforts.

“The Kentucky Derby is not just a horse race – it’s tradition, pageantry and history – and it brings people together from across the globe for the Greatest Two Minutes in Sports,” said Woodford Reserve Master Distiller Chris Morris. “Now more than ever, it is important to preserve that history and keep the tradition alive.”

Festivities on May 2nd will be hosted on Woodford Reserve’s social media platforms and, of course, Thirsty will be there for all of the action.
