Vodka, Fresh Strawberries and Mint: The 405 at The Sherman

In LA, the thought of the 405 is enough to give you a headache. But head to The Sherman, and the 405 takes on a whole new meaning. While the iconic freeway may be heavy, smoggy and slowing moving, the 405 cocktail is light, fresh and quick to finish.

“We named it the 405 to target the history and demographic of Sherman Oaks,” says Phil Felton, co-owner of The Sherman which open in March 2016. “We wanted to bring back the neighborhood bar and restaurant, creating a home away from home for those who do live here in Sherman Oaks and for those who travel from outside to give them a taste of what the valley is. The 405 is a good example of that.”

Made with low-calorie Voli Light vodka, fresh strawberries, lime, mint and elderflower, the 405 isn’t splurge when it comes to your hard-earned summer body.

“We muddled everything, we don’t use mixers or sugars or anything like that,” says Felton.

Since you are saving on the drink calories, we say pair it with The Sherman signature burger, made with three kinds of meat (short-ribs, brisket, chuck) sharp cheddar, sambal aioli, vine ripened tomatoes, wild arugula, red onion marmalade, King’s Hawaiian buns and gremolata fries. Or keep the light vibe up and order the Lobster Ceviche with lobster claws, mango, citrus uice, jalapeños, cilantro, avocado and bell peppers, all served inside a fresh coconut.
